"To act as the representative body for fresh produce markets market managers":

2.1 Create new or use existing platforms for regular interaction amongst all role players within the Fresh Produce Industry;

2.2 Serve as a Forum for Market Authorities to regularly interact;

2.3 Establish and promote professional standards and character of the industry;

2.4 Promote Fresh Produce Markets to all interest groups;

2.5 Conduct research to develop best practice models/systems to improve the management of Markets;

2.6 Establish and control training regarding market activities.

2.7 Establish and maintain databases in respect of Market facilities, services, and business statistics so as to provide interested parties with information;

2.8 Actively promote, advise and effect transformation on all levels at the Fresh Produce Markets;

2.9 Promote National Fresh Produce Markets as the preferred channel of distribution;

2.10 Determine, establish, implement and monitor industry-wide standards;

2.11 Advocate and Influence Policy Development within the Agricultural sector;

2.12 Actively represent Markets and Market Management by engaging various stakeholders.

2.13 Promote and encourage the breakdown of all barriers to entry for market access of all role players.
